Ka Buke Mele o nā Hīmeni Hawaiʻi is a collection of nearly 300 mele that were popular and widely sung during the last decades of the nineteenth century. Prominent political figures and well-loved aliʻi composers, such as Liliʻuokalani, Leleiohoku, and Kalākaua, are represented in this group, which includes love ballads, tributes, playful mele, and compositions with cultural and historical comment.
